In 2014, the UN recognised June 21st as the International Yoga Day. Since then the Government of India and the Indian Embassies abroad have been celebrating Yoga Day in the third week of June, globally and in India.

The Embassy of India is organising the International Day of Yoga in Turku on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 16:30-18:00hrs at Kupittaan Urheiluhalli, Tahkonkuja 5, 20520 Turku.
The participation is free for all the residents of Turku.

At this event, you can learn and practise yoga, with guidance from professional Yoga instructors Johanna Raussi and Riku Mikkola from Puremove, Turku. You don’t need the knowledge of yoga to participate in the event – all you need to do is follow the exercises shown by the instructors. The Yoga Day celebration is of 90 minutes and will include some basic yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation.

The common yoga protocol is being followed to celebrate the Yoga Day globally.

Please bring your yoga mat with you. We are also distributing some free T shirts with the Yoga Day logo – on first come first serve basis.

The event is totally free, and there is no entry ticket or registration. We warmly welcome everyone, including members of the Indian community, the friends of India, and everyone who is seeking a healthy lifestyle, and wants to know more about Yoga.
